
Ever
since April 1994, an International Committee
(SIA - IAT), Provincial
Committees (Maine, New-Brunswick
and Quebec), as well as Regional
Committees
were implemented to develop this new trail.
In
1995 an International Organization was established.
It is called the
Sentier
International des Appalaches-
International Appalachian
Trail (SIA - IAT) and has
six
official representatives for each jurisdiction.
The Quebec delegation, called
Parc Ami
Chic-Chocs, included Pete Dubé from
Matapédia, Pierre Dion from
the Ministry
of environment, André Fournier
from Causapscal, Jean-Pierre
Gagnon and Andrew
Wake from Ste-Anne-des-Monts,
as well as Gilbert
Rioux from Matane.
The International Committee
is presided by Dick Anderson from Maine, and
Andrew Wake from Québec
is the Vice-president. Michel Albert from New-Brunswick
was the first
secretary-treasurer. This Committee
is supported by other
administrators from Quebec, New-Brunswick and Maine.
IAT - Quebec regional Committees and Board of Directors
August 15, 1995, Viateur De Champlain implemented the Quebec Committee
to plan the Trail development in Matane Wildlife Reserve.
Regional Committees, Cap-Chat,
The Valley and Matapedia were organized in
1996. Then, other Committees,
as including Haute-Gaspesie and Côte-de-Gaspé,
were added.
