Platforms

Camping Platform Description
Most IAT campsites include 2 platforms on which 2 two-person tents can be installed. There’s also a dry pit toilet on the campsite. The maintenance is the user’s responsibility.

A food rack is available close to the campsite. It is used to hang the hiker’s food 4 m from the ground , so that bears and other wild animals are kept away.

You must bring your own tent, sleeping bag, mattress, camping stove (camping heater), matches, flashlight, plates and utensils, food, toilet paper, first aid kit.

Shelters and Lean-To

Shelter Description
''Shelter'' refers to two types of constructions which are available for you.  There are 3.7 m by 3.7 m shelters that are made of four walls and have four single beds and there are lean-to's which are three-walled constructions without beds.  Up to 6 persons can sleep in the lean-to's.

You must bring your own sleeping bag, mattress, camping stove (camping heater), matches, flashlight, plates and utensils, food, toilet paper, and first aid kit.  There is no wood-burning stove.

Refuges

Refuge Description
The refuge has a wood-burning stove, bunk beds without mattresses, and a camping table.  It can accommodate up to 8 persons, except for the Le Turcotte Refuge, which can accommodate only 4 persons.  There’s a dry pit toilet onsite. There’s no firewood in the refuge. The maintenance is the users’ responsibility.

Rules of the IAT - QC Campsites

There’s a water sour near each campsite. The water may not be drinkable: it’s recommended to boil the water or treat it.  

You must bring your own sleeping bag, mattress, camping stove (camping heater), matches, flashlight, plates and utensils, food, toilet paper, and first aid kit.  There is no wood-burning stove.

Fires are allowed only in specific places and only if the fire danger is low or moderate.

It is the user's responsibility to keep the site clean.




Distance Between the Sites and Time

For more information about the distance between each campsite, please use the Distance Table.

 In 2009, a thru-hiker created a Distance and Time Table, a document that approximates the duration of each step of a thru-hike.




Rates and Reservation

Rates (taxes not included)
Platform : $10.00 for a 2-person tent per night
Shelter (or lean-to) : $15.00 per person per night
Refuge : $20.00 per person per night
