RETURN OF THE GRAND CROSSING PASSPORT OF THE GR®A1 EXCLUDING THE GASPÉSIE NATIONAL PARK

 

The Passport allows you to use the remaining places on an IAT-QC site or to sleep on the ground, if the site is already full (see list of accommodation covered by the passport). A flexible solution!

- It excludes Parc de la Gaspésie and private accommodation (municipal campsites, lodges, hotels and motels) and Parc Forillon.

- You have the right to use the remaining places on platforms, shelters (shelters are exclusive only due to COVID) or shelters from 6 p.m., however the priority is to the person who rented the site from the menu.

- You must camp on the ground at Petit-Sault (Matane Wildlife Reserve) and Ruisseau Halibut (Haute-Gaspésie)

- The passport is valid until the completion of the crossing, over a maximum period of 10 years.

- You must submit your itinerary as precise as possible to us. Please complete the following form here.

- For security, a (cellular) telephone or other device capable of sending a message is required. The network is normally available in the highest peaks and Wi-Fi is available in several places passing through towns and villages.

- A follow-up with the IAT-QC will be done during your trip, to know your progress.

GR®A1 Grande Traversée Passport Regulations

- obligation to give the IAT-QC a copy of its detailed itinerary, containing the dates and location from the start to the end of the stay on the trail.

- for safety and to validate your route, a (cellular) telephone or other device capable of sending a message is compulsory. The network is normally available in the highest peaks and also Wi-Fi is available in several places passing through towns and villages.

- the passport allows you to use the remaining places on a SIA-QC site or to sleep on the ground, if the site is already full (see list of accommodation covered by the passport).

- you must give up your seat to people who will have an à la carte reservation.

- always keep your passport with you and present it, if necessary, to protection officers, park employees, supervisors or hikers who have duly booked.

- you must bring your mattress, sleeping bag, camping stove, matches, flashlight, bowl and utensils, food, toilet paper and first aid kit.

- campfires can be made if the degree of drought is not high, in places designed for fires only.

- a water point is usually located near each site, but since the water may not be drinkable, it is recommended to treat it or boil it. There are plenty of streams throughout the course but even in a natural environment, it is always recommended to treat your water. In addition, in times of drought, some of the water points can be dry as well as several rivers. The hiker will then have to be careful in his water management.

- camp only on the campsites or at the SIA-QC shelters.

- the hiker can occupy his accommodation site from 3 p.m.

- the hiker will clean the site before his departure.

- the hiker must have left his accommodation site from 10 a.m.

- access to the Auberge de Montagne des Chic-Chocs is not authorized for IAT-QC hikers, unless they have reserved a
bedroom.

- at the end of your hike, complete a questionnaire (trip report) and submit it to the IAT-QC.

MODIFICATION AND CANCELLATION OF A GREAT CROSSING PASSPORT

at your request, according to the applicable terms.

* The passport is non-transferable.
* The “Grande Traversée” passport can be valid for a period of 10 years or until the complete completion of the 650 km.
* No refund possible.
